At AEI, I will be working mainly on the modeling of Gravitational Waves sources with a particular focus on Binary Neutron Stars. This is one of the most attractive sources both for its higher chances of detection with GW advanced detectors and for the possibility of having an electromagnetic counterpart that could be determinant in increasing confidence levels and claiming a detection (GRB). Independently from this the subject is rich, and there is a lot to learn and to play with while understanding how to best simulate their coalescence and merger. As already said in the mainpage of the the numerical relativity group this is a multi-disciplinary effort, spanning the fields of relativistic astrophysics, hydrodynamics and magnetohydrodynamics, differential geometry, mathematics of nonlinear partial differential equations and high performance computing.
