Electromagnetic counterparts to mergers of supermassive black holes in the context of future space-based GW interferometers such as LISA as well as Earth-based Pulsar Timing Arrays (PTA).

Such possible counterparts range from peculiar spectroscopic behaviour of AGN-like sources to bolomertric flares. Thus, I study the behaviour of gas in the vicinity of binary black holes using numerical tools. Depending on the regime under study, we employ either Newtonian (or Post-Newtonian) SPH codes or GRMHD codes.

A particular interest of mine is the inclusion of radiative transfer into the numerical schemes.
